Nick rang me and asked if I wanted to join him for a meal? Said his mum had found this new cafe in Taman Dr Ismail and was gushing about it, so he was curious. Frankly, I wasn't that keen but since Nick dangle a carrot and said he'll pick up the tab, I would be a fool to say no. And that's how you see 2 buffy guys heading to Viv's Boutique Cafe. As I stepped inside, my eyes bulged. Lucky I was decently dressed that day as this cafe seems set up for a fine dining crowd. The funiture, that is, the chairs were huge and for me, a bit intimidating. And I cringed at the wall paper. You wouldn't catch me in this place again as I definitely prefer the cosy, casual and minalistic decor type of cafe. Thank God the food was not too bad. This place is a bit creative and does some East-West fusion sort of cuisine. You either like it or not . We ordered a Viv's Bento which was typical japanese fare served in a bento box. The sides were pretty comventional but the chicken meat was prepared similar to the chinese "Kung Pow" style, sticky thick black sauce spiced with some dried chillies. The malaysian touch to the meal was a papadom (Indiam cracker) Nick had the Beef short ribs and said it was decent enough, as there was some meat and flavour of the BBQ sauce was good. On the beverages side, there's a japanese yuzu sparkling water or you can order one of the many healthy smoothies. Overall, food's not bad but not my type of place to hang out !
